Occasionally, we’ll post open jobs to this page, but most of the time, we’re hiring off the back of recommendations and the groovy CVs sent our way. Frequently Asked Questions

What is it like to work for Metro?

We pride ourselves on having a business culture that’s friendly, flat, and packed with trust. For years we refused to call ourselves an agency, because we wanted to escape the pinstriped suits & pointy shoes connotation that sometimes goes along with being in the marketing industry. Our culture is busy – we have to move quickly and work with clients from right across the country, but we also make time to be social together and celebrate the wins.

Day to day, working at Metro means managing a lot of to-do lists, working with a range of key clients, and being part of a wider team of specialists. As a digital marketer, you might work independently with a client to deliver digital campaigns, or as a part of a wider team acting as an outsourced marketing department for a client. As a marketing strategist, you’ll lead teams within Metro to drive and deliver better returns for your clients over time, working closely with the clients face to face.

You’ll be asked to have good attention to detail, a postive attitude, and the guts to challenge convention and ask ‘why’. In return, Metro has Salad Thursdays, Mystery Days, Be Proud challenges & regular catch ups to look forward to, as well as ongoing personal training and development. Win win win.

What are your core values?

Our core values are talked about often within the team, and they’re probably the piece of work that we’re most sure about. This is what’s important to us:

Challenge Convention
Think outside the norm & challenge common assumptions

Be Proud & Accountable
Own your work

Stick Together
Have each other’s back

Serve First, Profit Second
Do the right thing at the right time for the right reasons

Spend client’s funds diligently
Spend with integrity and purpose.

What qualities are you looking for in a candidate?

We hire off five core qualities, known as the five e’s. This is your experience, enthusiasm, energy, expertise & entrepreneurial spirit.

5 'E's to design

Experience is something that may come from a range of backgrounds – not just marketing, but we are interested in understanding where you’ve come from and what you’ve learned along the way.

Expertise is what you bring to the table – the one thing you can do better than anyone else.

Energy is the the type of thinking you bring to the table – our work is client facing and team focused, so a positive and collaborative disposition is essential.

Enthusiasm is simple – our clients love what they do, and they work with us because they want to work with people who love what they do too.

Entrepreneurial Spirit is about seeing problems and coming up with creative solutions, bringing to the table a strong sense of business accumen, and ability to work across a broad range of industries.

Do you have a preference for tertiary education?

Nope! In fact, we like a mix of all-sorts. Experience, passion & critical thinking or creativity skills are more important to us, and we don’t believe that those will only come from tertiary study. If you’ve taken a less than conventional pathway forward (whether via a different field of study or through work experience), but you’re skilled and passionate about being in the world of marketing, please get in touch.
