How does outsourcing work?

When you outsource your marketing work to an agency like Metro, you’re essentially hiring a marketing manager and implementation team on an as needed basis. You benefit from insights that we develop by working with clients from right across the tourism industry and from other fields, as well as accessing marketing expertise that may be unaffordable for your business otherwise.

The key advantage for your organisation is that you get the skills you need when you need them. If you need full-time digital work one month, a videographer the other, and then a design or PR team in between, your marketing manager can manage your budget and ‘plug and play’ the right skillsets into your team as needed. This means one month your designer might have more to do, and the next month less, but you’re not footing the bill for the downtime. It’s all swings and roundabouts, but essentially we make sure that you’re getting the most out of your marketing spend by only paying for what you need.

The last thing to remember about outsourcing is – we can work with your existing team and suppliers. If you’ve already got a great team doing good marketing, but just need a skilled designer to cover maternity leave, or a marketing manager to help you go through a rebrand process – we’re able to help. Where are you based?
Our head office is based in Tauranga, but we have teams established in Rotorua, Hamilton and Wellington, with a sattelite base in Queenstown.
Do I have to hire a whole team?
We work on a ‘engage as you need’ basis, which is one beauty of outsourcing – you pay only for what skills you need to keep your team driving daily results. We can work with an existing team, provide occasional advice, or operate as your full marketing department – working with an annual budget at an executive level to drive better returns for your organisation.
What size organisations do you work with?
Medium sized enterprises are our forte, as we find that this is where our clients derive the most value from our team. We’ve also worked with owner-operators, start ups and organisations with as many as 400-700 staff. It all depends on the context – but we’re usually willing to try and explore options.
What does your NZTE partnership mean?

The NZTE partnership is ideal for Tourism and exporting clients with aspirations to grow their business, as you may be eligible for an NZTE Capability Development Voucher for the value of up to $5000NZD each year (your business pays half and they NZTE voucher pays half, so you would reap $10,000NZD value in total for a $5,000 spend).  The NZTE Capability Development Vouchers are available to businesses to use as partial payment towards the cost of capability development and training in the following areas:

  • Business planning
  • Export
  • Marketing

To be eligible for a voucher a business must:

  • Be operating with 50 or fewer FTEs
  • Be GST registered in New Zealand
  • Be operating in a commercial environment – i.e. you’re currently trading
  • Be privately owned or a Maori Trust or Incorporation under the Te Ture Whenua Maori Act 1993 or similar organisation managing Maori assets under multiple ownership
  • Have undergone assessment by a Regional Business Partner
